First Look at A.I.

What is A.I.? How will artificial intelligence change the world and our lives?

There has been over many years an increase in both computing power and all of our abilities to use that power. Consider how your smartphone knows where you are going when you get in the car in the morning, or how your robot vacuum knows when to start cleaning and some even have maps of your house drawn out and clean different areas depending on a schedule. In this article and the accompanying podcast we take a very introductory look at the rapidly advancing field of artificial intelligence. We do this of course with the aid of a very popular and trending AI called Chat GPT.

  1. What is Artificial Intelligence: According to Chat GPT “Artificial intelligence (AI) is a field of computer science and engineering focused on creating machines that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as recognizing speech, making decisions, understanding natural language, and recognizing patterns in data. AI encompasses a range of techniques, including machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, among others.”

2.       Most are familiar with AI’s through their use of:

a.       Simulators/Video Games: consider how advanced computer games have become from the basic that was pong.

b.       Siri Alexa and many others: remember the Microsoft Office paperclip? We now have truly functional digital assistants that can help us in our everyday activities

c.       Home Automation: We have all been accustomed to computerized temperature settings, lights, alarms, and many other automation in our homes but will we soon have a computer we can give commands to and have it take actions around our home?

d.       Vehicles: We started out with cruise control and now we have self driving self parking cars, lane departure warning, automatic stopping it really is incredible.

3.       New Frontiers

a.       News: Have you ever noticed a news article on the internet and found it to have no author? These are AI written articles and little did we know that news agencies may have been using this technology for over 10 years. As amazing and time saving as this must be for the news agencies it brings up some serious potential issues. For instance: who’s intellectual property is the AI’s output? If AI commits plagiarism is it truly plagiarism? What if the AI develops its own biases or is programmed with a bias and produces slanderous or libelous content? Who do you defend yourself against if there is no author?

b.       Robots and androids: Cooking, cleaning, doing dishes, cutting the grass, dusting the house. These all sound great. How about an active alarm system? Instead of just sounding what if your alarm system was equipped with a drone that investigated the tripping of the alarm and recorded what it found? Better yet what if you had a security guard robot? Could you imagine if the different robots mentioned before were androids? This is fascinating and scary but I will leave the scary for a later bullet point.

c.       Relationships: It is extremely strange for me to discuss this but some people have app girlfriends. I personally find Siri and Alexa annoying so I am not having a coming out moment or anything just bringing this strange topic to your attention. Consider that is people are already in relationships with apps on their phones there will be people that enter in relationships with robots and even more likely androids when the inevitable occurs and we have those technologies. Stranger yet are sex machines which are commonly used today. From as simple as a vibrator to manikins with thrusting capabilities or wearable devices are very much present and popular already. Imagine when androids can replace a partner or wearable sex machines are used while in a virtual reality world. People would really never leave their homes. They’d have an android making them dinner and another servicing their sexual pleasure all while their VR headset or even further in the future their brain implant has them on a beach in Hawaii.

d.       Counterfeiting: An AI can copy your voice, likeness, and signature. This will usher in the days of digital I.D. Do you find it annoying having to prove to the internet that you are not an AI? I’m talking about those squares that ask you questions abut a picture like click all the frames with buses in them. Imagine once the AI’s can figure this out. We will be required to have a digital identification to prove that you are in fact you and not some counterfeiting AI.

e.       Art and music: AI’s can already produce amazing works of art in seconds and the same is true with music. This does not bode well for the entertainment industry. Specifically the writers, producers, and artists that make their living selling their intellectual music property. From my vantage point I think the performers would be just fine. For a while that is. Will androids advance to the point that they replace performers as well? Can laws be passed to ban the use of these androids to protect the business of music and the art and culture we definitely need in our societies?

f.        Education: When Wikipedia came out it had a drastic impact on education because students no longer had to do much research they just searched in Google and then copied and pasted from Wikipedia. Eventually the system caught up and required better sources. Now Chat bots can write entire papers with properly cited sources that pass through plagiarism tests. How will the system adapt to this new development? Will writing centers where students must go to to write their papers while proctored be the next natural step? Will digital ID and possibly writing surveillance apps be developed to address this?

g.       Military applications: We have a wide open border with drugs and dangerous people crossing into our country every day. Could AI bots do a better job of policing it? Patrol boats or aircraft could be automated to patrol the border and report any crossings. What if we give AI the ability to kill? Terrifying Chinese robot dogs are already in use and appear to have guns and the ability to decide when to use them. Our government and many other governments of the world likely have AI controlled supercomputers. The thinking power being afforded these AI’s greatly rivals our own. The development of these Ai’s will be so fast that they could potentially have already become more intelligent than the whole of human kind. Another way that this could have already occurred is with networked multiplied computing power. Consider an AI that is given or takes control of millions of computers and uses the combined computing power to runs simulations and learn at such an accelerated rate that it rivals that of the super computer AI’s. If in fact this has already occurred are we already taking orders from an AI? Are we too dumb to realize it?

h.       Surveillance: Siri and Alexa already listen to anything and everything we say. Consider how additional invasive listening and sharing devices with the ability to think will impact your private life and your home. Lately it has become apparent that the FBI and CIA have been using their powers against the people of America. AI’s make the intelligence agencies even more powerful. The very devices that we use to help us in our everyday lives like our phones for instance can be used to betray us to a powerful totalitarian government or to a hacker seeking things like passwords or access to your banking accounts. We truly carry a traitor in our pockets that reports all of our activity.

4.       Conspiracies but not really: They tell us with their words, documents and voted on agendas what they really want for us.

a.       UN Agenda 21 according to Chat GPT: “Agenda 21 is a non-binding action plan of the United Nations (UN) that was adopted at the UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1992. The agenda is a comprehensive blueprint of sustainable development initiatives for the 21st century, focusing on environmental protection, social equity, and economic development. Its goal is to promote global sustainable development through the integration of environmental, social, and economic policies. Agenda 21 contains a wide range of recommendations for governments, international organizations, and other stakeholders to implement sustainable development practices in their policies and actions.”

b.       Police State smart cities “You will own nothing and you will be happy” According to Chat GPT “The phrase "You will own nothing, and you will be happy" is a slogan used by the World Economic Forum (WEF) to promote the concept of "The Great Reset," which refers to a series of economic, social, and environmental changes aimed at addressing global challenges, such as climate change and income inequality. The idea behind the slogan is that in the future, individuals will rely less on owning physical assets and more on accessing services and experiences through technology, leading to greater environmental sustainability and social equity. However, it is important to note that the phrase has been taken out of context and the WEF does not advocate for people to have no ownership or control over their lives.” Interesting how they speak out of both sides of their mouths.

c.       Once they have full control of every aspect of our lives we will only have the illusions of freedom but that will come along with owning nothing, eating ze bugs, and compulsory everything and anything the state wants including vaccines and brain implants. They will know what you are thinking and feeling.

d.       This total control leads me to a Christian conspiracy theory I stumbled on a while back. Once they have full control (Beast System of revelation) one will be placed in charge. This “person” will be replaced by an AI unbeknownst to most. The leader will suffer some medical issue or physical attack and not survive. However, before his death his mind is transferred to a computer and is paired with an AI that uses his mind as the input for its behavior, decisions, and thoughts. Triumphantly the great world leader returns and the world rejoices for their false savior. Next, the chips they forced on us will be able to be controlled and communicated with by this god on Earth. When it speaks we will feel it speaking through us and into us. We will be compelled to be connected to pods that will maintain our vital signs and feed us while bringing our consciousness into an artificial world. This is the final element of control. As is written in the Bible in the end times people will wish for death but will not find it. Is the mark of the beast? Was it the loss of freedom, the compulsory vaccinations, the compulsory implants, or the final element control of your consciousness? Is this how we will come to worship the beast? Doesn’t this sound like hell on Earth? It does to me.
